How to get tickets to a sold-out show without paying resale
Watch the official ticket page instead of the resale market, and be ready in the final days. In September 2026, 32 of the 57 shows Pounce checked had official seats come back on Ticketmaster, fastest in the last 24 hours, and half the returned listings were gone within 18 minutes.

1. Skip the resale listings
On the official event page, resale tickets sit next to the seats the ticket seller is selling itself, and they're marked as resale. Official seats are sold at the price the seller set, so that's where you want to buy. A high price isn't always resale, though: some official seats are priced on demand, so read the label, not just the number.
Every drop counted here was official Ticketmaster inventory, not a resale listing.
2. Know when to look
Seats come back all through the run-up to a show, but fastest at the end. In September, the shows Pounce checked got seats back 5.6 times as often per hour of checking in the last 24 hours as they did 8 to 30 days out, and 54% of drops landed between 1 PM and 7 PM Eastern time. 3. Be ready to buy in minutes
Returned seats don't wait. Of the 2,558 listings we saw come back in September, half were gone within 18 minutes and 73% within an hour. Before anything appears:
- Stay signed in to your ticket account on your phone, with your payment details saved.
- Decide how many seats you need, your price limit and the sections you'd take.
- Keep notifications on for whatever is watching the show for you.
4. Buying for a group? Think in twos
Most drops are small: 65% were exactly 2 seats, and only 28% had 3 or more. If your group can buy two at a time, you'll see far more chances than by waiting for four at once.
5. Let an alert do the watching
Nobody can refresh a ticket page all week. Pounce checks the shows you track and alerts you when seats come back, with the section, price and seat count right in the notification. One tap takes you to the official event page, and you buy in your own account.
The free plan tracks 2 shows, with alerts up to 10 minutes later. With half the returned listings gone within 18 minutes, that delay can matter on a busy show: Pro and the Show Pass alert you the moment we see seats, and let you filter by price and section.
What to avoid
- Anyone asking for your ticket account login. Pounce never asks for it, and a service that does is asking for your account.
- Strangers selling tickets by direct message who want to be paid by bank transfer or gift card.
- Anyone promising you'll get in. Nobody can, us included.
About these numbers: Pounce checks the shows its users track, not every show, and our data supplier sometimes can't see a listing. So the figures describe the 57 shows we checked in September 2026, all sold on Ticketmaster in the US and Canada. How we count.
